Easy to Grow Freesia 'Single Bicolor' Plant Bulbs (15 Pack) - Flowering Blooms in Spring Gardens

Freesia, a captivating flower, thrives when planted in a location that receives full sun for a minimum of eight hours daily. These blooms require abundant sunshine to flourish and sustain a prolonged flowering season. For outdoor landscaping, select a spot with well-draining soil. If water pools remain 5-6 hours after heavy rainfall, consider an alternative site or amend the soil with organic materials such as compost, ground bark, or decomposed manure.

For container planting outdoors, choose a pot, barrel, tub, or urn with adequate drainage holes to ensure proper water management.

Hardy in zones 9 and 10, Freesia should be planted in the fall to allow their roots sufficient time to establish in warmer climates. In zones 3-8, where winters are too cold for the bulbs, spring planting after the last frost is recommended. Another option is to plant Freesia in a container that can be brought indoors for winter storage.

For outdoor landscape planting, dig holes and place the Freesia bulbs 2" deep and 3" apart, with the pointed ends facing upward. Cover the bulbs with soil and water thoroughly. For container planting, position the Freesia 2" deep and 2" apart, with the pointed ends facing up, to achieve the most vibrant display. Cover the bulbs with soil, water, and ensure the container has proper drainage.

To maintain the health and vitality of your Freesia, water as needed during active growth periods, keeping the soil damp but never waterlogged. Cut the flowers for stunning bouquets and to enjoy their captivating fragrance. Leave the foliage in place immediately after the bulbs have finished blooming; do not cut it off. The leaves will absorb sunlight, undergo photosynthesis, and strengthen the bulb for future growth cycles. Remove the foliage when it begins to turn yellow and die as the plant enters dormancy. Freesia will then rest for several months before commencing the next growing cycle.
